September 10th, 11th, 12th, & 13th The Route Calgary * Creston * Thompson Falls * Fernie * & Home 1600 kms Over Four Days
Friday Sept. 10th After meeting at Angels around 8:30 am we'll try to be on the road by 9:00. We'll head west on the Trans Canada into the national park and along the Bow Valley Parkway to 93. I am thinking we will stop in Banff for a look see and maybe a coffee or light snack. 93 south to Radium is a terrific road. I know a neat little place in Radium where we can grab a bite to eat. After that we'll continue south all the way to Creston. At 500 kms this will be the longest day on the road for the weekend. Most of us have seen this road many times and my thoughts are we should take advantage of the shorter riding days in areas we haven't explored before.
Saturday Sept. 11th Back to the US and into Washington, Idaho and Montana. For those who didn't join us last year there is an outstanding section of road north of Metaline Falls. We'll take 20 south to Newport and then 2 to Sandpoint and 200 south to Thompson Falls. Most of this route is new to me and I am counting on you folks to help us find the cool neat places to see. This will be a shorter riding day, 390 kms.
Sunday Sept. 12th We'll leave Thomson Falls heading south on 200. Just past Dixon we will take 93 north. The ride will take us along the banks of Flathead Lake to Kalispell and Whitefish. From there it is back into Canada and on to Fernie. This should be around 430 kms for the day.
Monday Sept. 13th Of course Monday will be the ride home. We all know this route. 3 to 22 and then north to Calgary. It is about 280 kms from Fernie to Calgary. Getting back to Edmonton on Monday will be a long ride, but Red Deer should be easy.
